R.I.P. Ícono Cabernet Sauvignon is Chile’s first icon wine grown at 1,240 m.s.n.m. which has received the highest evaluation and recognition from reputed wine judges since the very beginning. This confirms R.I.P. Ícono Cabernet Sauvignon as one of the maximum representatives of Cabernet Sauvignon within the Alto Maipo Valley, as Chile’s finest origin for producing this variety.
Vineyard
The R.I.P. Ícono vineyard is situated at the foot of the Andes Mountains on the northern bank of the Maipo River at 1,240 m.s.n.m., las cubiertas de viñedos 0,5 hectáreas, 100% de ellos plantada con Cabernet Sauvignon. The vines in the vineyard are all of an early age.
Plantation year & density
El viñedo (100%): 3,000 plants/hectare and there are only half an hectare.
Suelo
El primero 30 cm de suelo de marga con una gran cantidad de piedras por debajo de ese. Estos suelos asegurar un buen drenaje y baja fertilidad, que ayuda a restringir el crecimiento vegetativo de las plantas y alienta la acumulación y la maduración de los compuestos fenólicos.
Clima
A semi-arid Mediterranean climate with an average rainfall of 350 mm per year is the characteristic climate of the Alto Maipo Valley. Se planta en uno de los sectores más fríos del Valle del Maipo Alto. This season was the coldest in the short history of R.I.P., y esto, junto con la cosecha 10 días más tarde de lo habitual, permitieron que las uvas maduran lentamente y llegan al final de la temporada con taninos excepcionalmente bien maduras junto con muy buena expresión frutal, frescura, y la personalidad.
