País Mágico

The País variety (Criolla in Argentina, Mission in California) arrived in Chile in the sixteenth century brought from Spain by the Conquistadores, becoming a symbol of the new world imposed by the cross and the sword. Successive waves of landings, battles and conquests, were planting vineyards in central valley and the arid interior drylands of the country. Today many of the primitive vines and their direct offspring are isolated geographically, ecologically and culturally in a specific area of this country, the dryland areas of the Maule Valley. From there come the grapes that the company used in winemaking which has been rescued along with the oldest practices of the dryland viticultural tradition, perfecting them with advanced technical infrastructure in a joint project between the Loncomilla Cooperative and the Ministry of Agriculture body of research and development, INIA Cauquenes, which seeks to contribute to the survival of an old lifestyle rich in social, cultural and ecological heritage. Those are the reasons why this line of wine was named after this epic history as País Mágico which means in Spanish magic country.
